Job description

About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

We're excited to invite talented and motivated Android Developers to join our award-winning team to help expand Robinhood's mobile experience for our customers.

The Margin team powers the experience that lets Robinhood customers responsibly borrow against their portfolios and trade with leverage. They own the end-to-end margin platform-eligibility, real-time margin calculations, interest, risk controls, and liquidation logic-so customers can access buying power while the firm stays safe in a highly regulated, high-stakes environment.

As an Android Engineer on the Margin team, you'll turn complex trading and risk concepts into clear, trustworthy mobile experiences. You'll partner closely with backend, product, design, and risk to ship performant features in Kotlin and modern Android tooling, designing flows that explain margin clearly, surface risk intuitively, and meet Robinhood's high bar for safety, quality, and user experience.

The role is based in our Toronto, Canada office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do
  • Work with a fast-growing team to revolutionize finance at speed and scale
  • Build smooth, stable, and elegant products with Kotlin and the newest Android APIs
  • Own features from inception to design, implementation, and launch
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Designers, Product Managers, Backend Developers, and Data team
  • Work with Kotlin, Android SDK & Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Coroutines & Flow (preferred) OR RxJava, and Retrofit & Room
What you bring
  • 3+ years of professional Android development experience building consumer Android applications at scale, preferably in Kotlin and Compose
  • Attention to detail, passion for writing clean, readable and maintainable code
  • Proficiency in Kotlin or Java, and Jetpack
  • Desire to improve Robinhood's app and codebase to ensure outstanding quality for our all users
  • Strong product sense and ability to collaborate with Product Managers and Designers
  • Excellent communication skills and passion for solving technical challenges
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred; equivalent training or work experience also acceptable
What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career
  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, and equity ownership
  • Top tier benefits to fuel your work, including supplemental health insurance, ancillary insurance, and mental health support programs
  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible employer-paid benefits spending account expenses beyond traditional benefits such as wellness, childcare, learning, and more.
  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, paid volunteer time off, parental leave, and more!
  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.
  • Monthly commuter stipend to help offset in-office commuting costs
