Job description

GAP is the longest established gastroenterology practice in the Piedmont Triad area. This independent, physician-owned GI practice is looking for an ASC Administrator. The ASC Administrator plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the activities for the clinical and business operations of the endoscopy center(s). Works collaboratively with the Medical Director, CEO, Human Resources and DON. Provides support to staff, patients, physicians and outside vendors. Analyzes and evaluates services to improve quality of care while enhancing a teamwork approach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Develops, establishes, and implements short and long-term goals for the centers that drive best in class clinical, financial and operational results.
  2. Develops, coordinates, and supports strategic and operational plans for the centers that maximize growth, efficiency, quality, team engagement, patient satisfaction, and cost containment.
  3. Leads and directs all activities related to oversight of the ASC's administration, facilities, operations, HR, information technology, insurance, medical records, patient satisfaction, physician relations, purchasing and risk management.
  4. Leads performance improvement efforts with a goal of optimizing patient access, clinical outcomes, efficiency, positive patient and family experience, and sound financial results.
  5. Analyzes the ASC's overall financial performance, room and staff utilization and the profitability of individual cases.
  6. Ensures compliance with all accreditation standards, OSHA regulations, CMS and federal regulations, and maintains State Certifications and AAAHC Accreditation.
  7. Provides oversight of the ASC Quality Improvement Program, QI Infection Control, peer review process, adverse outcomes/sentinel events, patient survey responses, anesthesia QI and benchmarking.
  8. Develops, interprets, and implements policies, procedures, regulations, programs, and recommended practices to meet requirements of regulatory and accrediting organizations. Including but not limited to infection control, environment of care, and emergency preparedness.
  9. Leads, mentors, and develops a high performing team of clinical and operational professionals focused on quality outcomes, volume growth drivers, labor efficiencies, and operational excellence.
  10. Leads employee engagement efforts, including ASC staff meetings, retention, and employee satisfaction.
  11. Develops and maintains a constructive working relationship with the ASC's Medical Director.
  12. Ensures that company core values are modeled and policies and procedures are followed.
  13. Develops and implements ASC specific policies and procedures affecting daily operations.
  14. Safeguards the center(s)' assets and ensures the center(s)' building and/or tenant improvements and equipment are maintained in good working order and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  15. Monitors appropriate scheduling/staffing activities of patients, physicians, and personnel to ensure highest quality of services, room utilization, and cost effectiveness.
  16. Ensures excellent patient experiences and outcomes.
  17. Maintains vendor relationships. Reviews and negotiates contracts for centers in conjunction with Finance Manager.
  18. Oversees inventory and supply management.
  19. Develops and monitors up-to-date staffing plan in conjunction with HR.
  20. Assists in interviewing and screening prospective nursing personnel as needed.
  21. Provides input for performance evaluations in conjunction with other nursing leaders.
  22. Investigates incidents as reported by staff, directing information to the CEO when necessary.
  23. Reports pertinent activities concerning the facility to the Board of Directors at regular intervals.

Requirements
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions. Understanding of documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment. Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.

Skills:
  • Skill in initiating appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Skill in handling a number of tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication style that will develop confidence in the team.

Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, coworkers and diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to competently use Microsoft Office.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree (MSN/MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with leadership activities, preferably in ambulatory surgical setting.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and assign work to subordinates, explain GAP policies and procedures and communicate effectively with GAP physicians and staff when identifying and resolving problems.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and skills to implement and monitor Standard of Practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ambulatory surgical center. Environmental setting (lighting, temperature, air quality, acoustics) controlled.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with an Administrator such as daily standing, squatting, walking, bending, stooping and maneuvering. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds. Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards. Stress can be triggered by workload and difficult patients.
