Summary:

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Infection Preventionist to join our Quality and Patient Safety team.
The Infection Preventionist provides for a safe environment where risks for infection are identified and minimized for patients, employees and visitors. This position acts as a liaison and resource person for Infection Prevention and Control and is accountable for management of all Infection Prevention and Control activities by providing environmental and case surveillance, data reporting, data analysis, practice consult and developing interventions aimed at reduction of healthcare-associated infections in patients, members, and workforce. Is responsible for surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of infections including healthcare associated infections (HAIs); investigation and response to outbreaks of infection amongst patients and/or healthcare workers; consultation to all PCNM delivery sites on Infection Prevention and Control practices; development of resources and education related to Infection Prevention and Control practices; and serving as a liaison with other entities within the Presbyterian Healthcare System and also the county and state health departments. This position will work with multidisciplinary departments to ensure prevention measures are in place and facilitates adherence with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and other recommended or evidence-based practices aimed at prevention of infections including HAIs and other communicable infectious diseases encountered in the healthcare setting. Will ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures and assists with the analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Infection Prevention and Control clinical quality initiatives that promote Presbyterian Healthcare System clinical strategies and priorities. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveillance, investigation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and communicable diseases.
  • Analyze infection prevention data and identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders, physicians, nursing teams, and support departments to implement evidence-based infection prevention practices.
  • Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate response activities when necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention policies, procedures, and educational programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including CDC, CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and state requirements.
  • Provide consultation on isolation precautions, infection prevention practices, construction/renovation projects, and emerging infectious disease concerns.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary committees focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and infection prevention.
  • Educate staff, providers, and leadership on infection prevention best practices and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports, metrics, and recommendations to leadership teams and committees.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in health-related field. Masters degree preferred.
2 years of experience in acute health care required. Previous experience in acute care Infection Prevention and Control and/or quality improvement work preferred.
Certificate in Infection Control (CIC) is within 3 years from hire preferred.
Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record, and able to travel locally.
Must share 24-hour responsibility for availability to respond to infection prevention and control concerns through scheduled on-call activities.
Computer software application skills
such as Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious disease.
Knowledge of current patient care practice.
