Job description

Position Summary:

Install Audio Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of aftermarket audio, electronics, and accessory systems for automotive and marine applications. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality installations that meet customer expectations and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install aftermarket car and marine audio systems, including head units, amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, DSPs, and marine entertainment systems.
  • Install and integrate 12-volt electrical accessories such as backup cameras, remote start systems, GPS units, lighting, alarms, battery management systems, and Bluetooth accessories.
  • Perform vehicle and vessel disassembly and reassembly while maintaining factory appearance and preventing damage.
  • Route, terminate, and secure power, ground, speaker, RCA, and accessory wiring using industry best practices.
  • Fabricate and install custom mounting solutions, amplifier racks, speaker adapters, and subwoofer enclosures as needed.
  • Configure, tune, and test audio systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, wiring, and equipment issues using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Read wiring diagrams, installation guides, and manufacturer specifications to ensure proper system integration.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company policies and safety procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding installation options, system operation, and recommended upgrades.
  • Complete work orders, installation documentation, and quality inspections accurately and on time.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One or more years of experience installing aftermarket automotive or marine electronics preferred.
  • Working knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems, vehicle wiring, and marine electrical systems.
  • Experience installing audio components, amplifiers, subwoofers, marine stereos, and related accessories.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and use multimeters, test lights, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with custom fabrication using MDF, ABS plastic, fiberglass, or acrylic materials.
  • Knowledge of DSP tuning and audio system calibration.
  • Experience with products from leading manufacturers such as JL Audio, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, Garmin, Fusion, Wet Sounds, or Arc Audio.
  • MECP Certification or equivalent industry training is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work inside vehicles, boats, and shop environments for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity required for wiring, fabrication, and precision installation work.
