Job description

St. Mark’s Episcopal School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic coach for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This is a crucial position for the students, families, and faculty at St. Mark’s. While this position encompasses many different duties, its primary function is to provide students an opportunity to participate in a competitive setting that will foster physical skills, teamwork, a sense of worth and competence, knowledge, and understanding of the pleasures associated with the sport and the principles of fair play. 

St. Mark’s will be hiring for the following sports:

  • Boys & Girls Volleyball
  • Cross Country
  • Soccer
  • Swimming
  • Softball
  • Baseball
  • Golf


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Familiar with all rules and regulations, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the particular sport of interest.
  • Assist in the oversight of the activities of all athletic teams for their sport
  • Coaches plan  and direct  the training of student-athletes, and assess individuals’ abilities and skill levels to determine the appropriate team position
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment to their relative sport or sports
  • Oversee proper issue and return of all athletic uniforms
  • Submitting equipment and supplies needed to the Director of Athletics
  • Assure facilities are  secure upon the completion of practice and/or games
  • Keep accurate scores and records for sport
  • Effectively communicate with team members and parents
  • Submit all required reports in a timely manner
  • Organize and prepare for practices including set up and clean up
  • Setup the gym or field for practices and on game day
  • Facilitate carpool for away games (this needs more detail)
  • Able to handle stressful situations by maintaining composure
  • Work with and support all other coaches and sports, as requested
  • Attend additional meetings as instructed by the Head of School or Director of Athletics
  • All coaches report directly to the Athletic Director
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics
 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

  • Work in a sometimes highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; to bend, stoop, and reach overhead
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment
  • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
