SUMMARY
The "Field Service Technician I" is a member of the Service Department working under the direction of the manager of the MW micro-enterprise business reporting under the Service business. The Field Service Technician I is responsible to install equipment at customer site and repair equipment in our Voith facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide a safe work environment in the field, to heighten safety awareness amongst all Field Service Technicians
  • Perform work, supervised and unsupervised, in the field at customer's mill site
  • Collaboration with customer personnel planning onsite work
  • Participate in installation related discussions, in house or at customer site
  • Main responsibility is the installation of fiber systems equipment and parts
  • Organize tools and parts needed for field service activities
  • Follow up visits to complete any punch list items and complete the job for final acceptance by the customer
  • Continually look for improvements in materials, methods, and tooling required to complete field service and repair activities
  • If applicable, complete timely and accurate service reports, time records, and expense forms
  • Conduct or participate in meetings with managers, co-workers, and / or customers
  • Able to travel on a frequent basis within North America, occasional international travel will be required
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as in-house technical assistance for customers

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)
  • Experienced in installation work in the paper industry, and ability to learn the details of a variety of fiber system equipment
  • A good mechanical aptitude as well as basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulic and controls
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, control schematics and bills of materials
  • Good communication skills, verbal, and written, with good customer relation skills
  • Ability to operate independent of daily direction
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Construction experience in the paper or similar industry
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Ability to operate independent of daily direction, i.e. sees what needs to be done and does it
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and demands, makes things happen, gets results
  • Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills

EDUCATION REQUIRED (minimum)
  • High school degree in and/or related experience
