About Condé Nast
Condé Nast stands as a distinguished media powerhouse, celebrated for curating top-tier content for the globe's most impactful audiences. Engaging over a billion consumers through its cutting-edge print, digital, and video brands, the portfolio proudly features some of the most iconic titles in the media landscape, including Architectural Digest, Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler, GQ, Pitchfork, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and WIRED.
Consistently delivering excellence, Condé Nast extends its influence across 32 markets worldwide, with headquarters in both London and New York, embodying a commitment to quality and innovation.
About Condé Nast Technology
Condé Nast Technology builds the products, systems, and experiences that power our brands. Our mission is to enable creativity and business growth through next-generation publishing, loyalty, and commerce platforms.
We're a global team of designers, engineers, product managers, and researchers dedicated to creating innovative, user-centric products that enable world-class storytelling and digital experiences.
You'll be part of a talented international team working across London, New York, and ten other markets, collaborating daily with colleagues in Product, Engineering, Architecture, Design, UX, and Data. We partner closely with Consumer Marketing, Commercial, Licensing, Editorial, and Brand teams to ensure our tools and experiences deliver real impact.
Together, we're shaping how our brands create, publish, and connect with audiences worldwide, combining craft, technology, and collaboration to deliver quality at scale.
About Our Engineering Team
Our engineering team builds and evolves Verso, the shared front-end platform powering more than 70 Condé Nast brand sites worldwide. We specialize in modern React architectures, performance-optimized experiences, multi-brand configuration systems, and flexible storytelling tools that enable teams to move fast while maintaining exceptional quality.
We value craft. We value clarity. We value performance. We value governance. We believe that exceptional digital experiences require engineering, product and design working in lockstep.
About the role
Our brands are our USP. The expression of our iconic brands - from Vogue to the New Yorker - within their digital experiences is of utmost importance in our mission to create the best places to consume and interact with our brands.
We are hiring a Front End Software Engineer / SE2: Full Stack to elevate the visual and interactive qualities of our consumer facing experiences across our portfolio of brands.
This role focuses on craft at scale. Building and implementing user interfaces that feel premium, deliberate and performant. You will work at the intersection of brand expression, system architecture, and user experience, bringing finesse to interfaces that millions of readers interact with every day.
You'll collaborate closely with our Product Design Lead, editorial partners, and platform engineers to bridge design intent with production-quality code.
Key Responsibilities & Areas of Impact::
  • Elevate Front End architecture
    • Build polished, high quality UI elements as React components with a strong focus on layout, typography and interactive fidelity.
    • Inform Design, Product and Editorial teams on engineering rationale. Be ready to defend your work, provide milestones on your progress and communicate your intentions to a group of peers.
    • Utilize modern React and Typescript features. Familiarity with React 18+, TypeScript, hooks, suspense, SSR concepts, and emerging RSC patterns are expected.
    • You write reusable, semantic code. You need to be able to defend your rationale during peer reviews. Your code should be written with long-term scalability in mind.
    • Work with GraphQL schemas, fragments, and resolvers to deliver efficient, minimal data payloads.
    • Shape GQL patterns that support component-driven design and editorial storytelling flows.
    • Design with Core Web Vitals in mind, continuously improving LCP, CLS, INP, and client-side performance.
    • Ensure accessibility, semantic HTML, responsive behaviors, and robust interaction patterns across devices and markets.
    • Mentor through example, helping teammates build their craft and front-end intuition.
    • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to accelerate discovery, prototyping, testing, documentation, and implementation, while maintaining strong ownership of code quality, security, accessibility, and performance.
    • Critically evaluate AI-generated code and recommendations, validating correctness through tests, peer review, observability, and sound engineering judgment.
    • Identify pragmatic opportunities to use AI to improve publishing workflows, developer experience, content operations, or front-end platform efficiency, in partnership with Product, Design, Editorial, and Data teams.
    • Contribute to responsible AI practices, including appropriate handling of confidential data, copyright-sensitive content, bias, attribution, human review, and brand/editorial integrity.

  • Contribute to our Multi-Tenant Application
    • Champion re-use in our design system. Extend and refine shared component libraries to support brand-distinctive layouts without sacrificing consistency.
    • Contribute to configuration-driven approaches that allow brands to express themselves while remaining maintainable at scale.
    • Your code should be written in a way that helps enable rapid enablement. You approach problems with a pragmatic perspective and find solutions during the discovery phase that allows for rapid enablement.
    • Participate in design reviews, architectural discussions, and platform strategy.
    • Set high standards for code quality, component architecture, performance best practices, and design fidelity.

What We're Looking For (Experience & Skills)
  • 4+ years of experience developing high-quality front-end experiences using React and TypeScript.
  • Strong fluency with GraphQL, including fragments, schemas, and component-oriented queries.
  • Deep understanding of modern React (hooks, suspense, SSR/Hydration, RSC concepts).
  • Strong CSS fundamentals (layout systems, responsive design, animation, typography).
  • Strong understanding of accessibility, usability, and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience optimizing Core Web Vitals and reducing real-world runtime costs.
  • Curious mindset with a desire to learn, iterate, and push the platform forward.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as coding assistants, chat-based technical copilots, or AI-supported documentation/search workflows.
  • Ability to prompt, critique, test, and refine AI-generated outputs rather than accepting them unreviewed.
  • Awareness of responsible AI considerations, including privacy, security, intellectual property, accessibility, bias, and editorial trust.
  • Curiosity about AI-enabled product experiences and how they can support publishing, storytelling, personalization, discovery, or internal tooling.

Nice to have
  • Experience integrating AI-powered features into web applications, such as streaming responses, prompt-driven interfaces, semantic search, recommendations, summarization, or editorial assistance tools.
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG patterns, evaluation workflows, or AI observability.
  • Experience designing user interfaces for AI-assisted workflows with clear feedback, confidence cues, human-in-the-loop review, and graceful failure states.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $145,000-165,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
