What is a Voc Analyst?

A VOC (Voice of the Customer) Analyst is a professional who collects, analyzes, and interprets customer feedback to help organizations improve their products, services, and overall customer experience. They use various tools and techniques to gather insights from customer surveys, reviews, support tickets, and other channels. VOC Analysts play a key role in identifying trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction. Their work helps organizations make data-driven decisions to better meet customer needs.

How does a Voc Analyst typically collaborate with other departments to drive customer-centric improvements?

A VoC (Voice of the Customer) Analyst regularly works cross-functionally with teams such as product management, customer support, marketing, and operations to share insights derived from customer feedback. By presenting data-driven recommendations and actionable trends, VoC Analysts help these departments prioritize initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction. Collaboration often involves regular meetings, workshops, and presentations to ensure customer insights are embedded into strategic decisions and day-to-day operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Voc Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Voc Analyst (Voice of the Customer Analyst), you need strong analytical skills, experience with customer feedback data, and typically a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with VoC platforms (like Medallia or Qualtrics), data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI), and survey design is often required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail help analysts translate data into actionable insights and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. These skills ensure that organizations can accurately capture, analyze, and respond to customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Job description

Job Title: Commercial Strategy Analyst

Job Description:

Trystar is at the forefront of advancing power solutions, charged and driven by a committed, dynamic team, tackling complex challenges, and creating innovative solutions. We’re looking for motivated, driven, and talented individuals eager to be part of the future of power. Safety and integrity aren’t just buzzwords, they are the north star guiding us as we aspire to wow our customers every day. We’ve created power solutions that are not only durable and unique but are also the result of exciting teamwork from every corner of our organization.

Individually and collectively, every team member at Trystar plays for each other and strives to deliver unmatched value and 100% accuracy to our customers every single day. Our cutting-edge headquarters is in Faribault, MN, a facility that is partially solar and wind powered by our own microgrid! Together, we are Trystar, where we power the future and nurture innovation for a brighter tomorrow.

Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, and we are in search of a Commercial Strategy Analyst based at our Burnsville, MN office.

The Commercial Strategy Analyst is the analytical backbone of the Solutions team, serving every Offering Manager function as a shared analytical resource. This role synthesizes competitive intelligence, transaction history, customer segment performance, and market dynamics into recommendations that directly shape solution priorities, investment decisions, and value capture initiatives. You will work across all five OM roles — Value Capture, Commercial/Demand, Operations/Supply, Services, and IOI — and in close partnership with Finance, Sales, and Solutions leadership to ensure that every major decision is grounded in fact, not assumption.

  • Commercial Intelligence: Deliver analyses of enterprise portfolio performance, segment mix, and margin trends that give the Solutions team a clear, current view of where Trystar is winning and where it is not.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Maintain a live competitive landscape — positioning, pricing posture, and win/loss dynamics — that keeps the team ahead of market shifts rather than reacting to them.
  • Pricing Support: Provide willingness-to-pay analysis, price realization diagnostics, and discount pattern data that enable OM-Value Capture to make confident, defensible pricing decisions.
  • Opportunity Assessment: Produce market sizing and segment prioritization analyses that help the team concentrate investment where Trystar has the strongest right to win.

Key Outcomes:

  • Win/loss insight velocity: structured analyses completed within 30 days of decision
  • Segment revenue mix trending toward identified high-growth, high-margin targets
  • VOC/OVOC cadence maintained: structured sessions completed and findings distributed across the Solutions team on a defined schedule

We are looking for people who believe in our guiding principles and values of:

  • Safety – We believe everyone should leave Trystar facilities in the same or better condition than when they arrived.
  • Integrity – We’re honest, transparent, and committed to doing what’s right.
  • Customer focus – We have relentless focus on our customers and their success.
  • Right with speed – We use good judgement, make thoughtful decisions quickly, and execute them with purpose and intensity.
  • Play for each other – We’re a team. We show up for each other and we know that through teamwork we achieve greatness.
  • Champion change – We know adaptation and improvement are requirements to survive and to thrive.
  • Enjoy the journey – We create an environment where our team feels appreciated and has fun along the way.

In this role you will get to:

Commercial & Market Analysis

  • Analyze transaction and shipment data to surface mix shifts, margin trends, and growth patterns by segment, channel, and solution family across the Trystar enterprise portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain market sizing models and opportunity maps that inform solution prioritization — working from Finance’s financial outputs, not recreating them.
  • Conduct structured win/loss analysis in collaboration with Sales and Application Engineering to identify competitive gaps and commercial friction points.
  • Track competitive intelligence across positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies for priority competitors, synthesizing findings into quarterly briefings for Solutions leadership.

Pricing & Value Capture Support

  • Provide analytical support to OM-Value Capture — price realization tracking, discount frequency analysis, and margin leakage diagnostics by segment and channel.
  • Build willingness-to-pay models and scenario analyses that give OM-Value Capture the quantitative foundation it needs to set and defend pricing strategy.
  • Prepare price effectiveness inputs for review with OM-Value Capture and Solutions Leadership — analysis and insight, not pricing decisions.

Cross-Team Intelligence & Operating Support

  • Develop and maintain buyer personas by segment and application — capturing customer pains, buying triggers, decision criteria, and willingness-to-pay signals — ensuring all five OM roles are working from a consistent, current view of the customer.
  • Provide OM-Operations/Supply and OM-Services with segment-level demand trends, solution attach data, and market context that informs fulfillment planning and services investment priorities.
  • Support OM-IOI with market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, and opportunity validation inputs that strengthen investment cases for new solution development.
  • Prepare analytical inputs for Win Room, SIOP, EQR, and Tech Steering forums — ensuring the Solutions team enters every operating review with clear, current data.

Primary Functional Partners: OM-Value Capture, OM-Commercial/Demand, OM-Operations/Supply, OM-Services, OM-IOI, Finance (data source and reporting owner), Sales, Application Engineering

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial strategy, business intelligence, financial analysis, or product analytics in an industrial, manufacturing, or technology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build complex analytical models and translate outputs into clear strategic recommendations for senior audiences.
  • Proficiency in Excel and BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent); SQL experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience partnering with pricing, product, or go-to-market teams on decisions with measurable commercial impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex analysis concisely and persuasively to senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to integrate AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) into core workflows — research, modeling, communications, synthesis — with demonstrated examples of how AI accelerated output quality or speed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in B2B industrial, engineered-to-order, or multi-channel distribution environments.
  • Familiarity with SIOP, EQR, or equivalent operating cycles in a manufacturing business.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems or adjacent industrial markets.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced training in strategy, finance, or marketing analytics.
