VMware Engineer
Location: Alexandria, Virginia (Onsite)
Role Overview
We are seeking a VMware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will identify and resolve environmental issues, communicating findings and remediation plans effectively with relevant teams. This role involves comprehensive administration and engineering of a VMware infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and engineer VMware vSphere (7.x/8.x), ESXi, and vCenter Server environments.
  • Design, administer, and configure HA clusters, resource pools, and DRS.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of VMware components, including ESXi patching, vCenter upgrades, and firmware validation.
  • Integrate VMware with enterprise storage platforms, including NFS, VMFS, and iSCSI datastores.
  • Configure and manage VMware virtual networking, including Distributed Virtual Switches (VDS) and Standard Virtual Switches.
  • Handle backup and recovery operations, including snapshot management, VM recovery, and disaster recovery planning using VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Utilize change management processes and tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, and Confluence.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required.
Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain DOD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of VMware Administration and Engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with VMware vSphere (7.x/8.x), ESXi, and vCenter Server.
  • Experience in cluster design, administration, HA configuration, and resource pool management.
  • Proficiency in VMware Lifecycle Management, including patching and upgrades.
  • Experience integrating VMware with enterprise storage platforms (NFS, VMFS, iSCSI).
  • Knowledge of VMware virtual networking, including VDS, standard switches, VLANs, and NIC Teaming.
  • Experience with enterprise backup platforms and disaster recovery planning.

Technical Skills:
  • VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server
  • VMware Lifecycle Manager
  • NFS, VMFS, iSCSI storage protocols
  • Distributed Virtual Switches (VDS)

Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this position is $140,000.00 to $170,000.00 annually. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
