Job description

Job Summary:
SourcePro Search is conducting a search for an accomplished Senior Systems Engineer proficient in VMWare technologies. The role involves designing, constructing, securing, and overseeing virtualization technologies within the VMWare stack, while also developing and maintaining advanced technical solutions for both new and existing systems.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design, implement and manage Firm systems including networks, storage, Exchange, physical and virtual servers, Active Directory and Group Policy, Certificate Services, authentication systems, and remote access and mobility systems;
โ€ข Administer and support cloud-based systems and related services (e.g Azure, Office365, AWS);
โ€ข Oversee and ensure the optimal performance of systems;
โ€ข Perform frequent and long-term maintenance in addition to management of user facing tasks;
โ€ข Provide expert level support through escalated technical support;
โ€ข Acts as mentor to other IT internal team members in the areas of network and system operations across the Firm;
โ€ข Prepare and distribute technical documentation for all assigned systems and projects involving processes, procedures, troubleshooting guides, training and change management logs;
โ€ข Establish and maintain relationships with IT external customers, vendors and partners;
โ€ข Participate in on-call rotation;
โ€ข Some overtime and/or non-standard hours, and travel may be required; and
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with VMWare technologies
โ€ข Minimum of 5 years of experience in a System Engineer role, particularly focused on Microsoft server systems
โ€ข Expertise in designing, constructing, securing, and overseeing virtualization technologies within the VMWare stack (ESXi, vCenter)
โ€ข Minimum of 7 years of systems analysis
โ€ข Minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ experience working with storage technologies
โ€ข Ability to manage enterprise wide technology infrastructure
โ€ข Ability to manage multiple infrastructure components
โ€ข Solid working knowledge of encryption technologies
โ€ข Expert proficiency in design and implementation of IT infrastructure systems in large scale Microsoft Windows-based enterprise environments
โ€ข Expert proficiency in Active Directory design, support and administration
โ€ข Demonstrated advanced knowledge in IP networks (LAN / WAN, MPLS, VPN, VLAN, WiFi) design, engineering and management
โ€ข Expert proficiency in network and storage design and maintenance (SAN - Storage Area Network, NAS - Network Attached Storage)
โ€ข Expert proficiency in a variety of systems, servers and protocols (VMware, Windows Server, TCP/IP, DNS, Active Directory)
โ€ข Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Server & third party software patch management
โ€ข Advanced knowledge of PowerShell development for system utilities, automation and administration
โ€ข Advanced knowledge of monitoring solutions (Orion, Splunk, vRealize Suite/Aria Operations)
โ€ข Advanced knowledge of Enterprise backup software
โ€ข Demonstrated advanced knowledge in cyber risk and system hardening techniques
Preferred:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree and/or advanced degrees in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field
โ€ข Experience working with vSAN and NSX
โ€ข Foundational knowledge of ITIL (certification preferred)
โ€ข Working knowledge of Agile, KanBan or similar project methodologies
