RapidScale is seeking a Senior or Lead Cloud VMware Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining the health, performance, and reliability of RapidScale's managed cloud environments. You will support the stability and scalability of both domestic and international data centers, with a focus on VMware-based virtualization and core infrastructure technologies.
You have strong technical depth, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-availability environment supporting enterprise customers.
What You Will Do
  • Support and maintain cloud infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and monitoring systems

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and escalations, minimizing customer impact

  • Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency

  • Partner with Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to implement enhancements and maintain compliance

  • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures

  • Ensure effective monitoring and alerting across infrastructure components

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting customer environments

Required Qualifications
  • Senior VMware Engineer - Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field

  • Lead VMware Engineer - Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field

  • Strong experience with VMware-based virtualization environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and manage escalations in high-availability environments

  • Experience performing root cause analysis and driving issue resolution

  • Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with VMware technologies such as vSAN, NSX or NSX-T, and vCloud Director

  • Familiarity with VMware ecosystem tools (Aria Suite, SRM, Tanzu)

  • Experience with Cisco UCS infrastructure

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, LACP)

  • Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, PowerCLI)

  • Familiarity with public cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and VMware cloud solutions (AVS, VMC, Azure AVD)

  • Experience in managed services or enterprise customer environments

  • Experience handling Sev-1 incidents and delivering root cause analysis

USD 101,500.00 - 169,100.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $101,500.00 - $169,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
