Job description

Material Handler

The Material Handler position compiles, maintains material, parts and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas by performing the following duties.

  • Receive and store materials and then pick and package items to fill orders
  • Performing regular cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Operates material handling equipment
  • Checks products being shipped against shipping orders to ensure proper quantity, and identification
  • Coordinates with the logistics department on all outbound shipments
  • Checks packaging requirements
  • Ensuring deliveries match purchase orders and documenting inventory accurately.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed written/oral instructions
  • Ability to operate a forklift

Competency

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently

Requirements

  • Able to push, carry, lift, and move materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work while walking/standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift heavy items, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive manual labor.
  • Able to walk across a production facility.

Work Environment

  • Typical production environment.
  • Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in a warehouse environment
  • 1-3 years' forklift experience
  • Computer skills
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
