Viral Pathogenesis Lead Scientist Work Location: Fort Detrick, MD Eagle Health is seeking a Viral Pathogenesis Lead Scientist to join our team in Fort Detrick, MD. This position is contingent upon award. Incumbents are encouraged to apply.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at: $105,000 - $118,000. The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits including company holidays, paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, as well as 401K with company match.

This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn. Core Duties: Serve as a Lead Investigator and conduct basic and applied research on current and emerging viral threats in support of the BD and infectious disease program The Lead Investigator may work in BSL-2, BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories therefore must hold and maintain Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) status, in accordance with (IAW) the provisions of this contract and applicable regulations Work with controlled substances and therefore must hold and maintain CS-PRP status, IAW the provisions of this contract and applicable regulations Prepare BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 labs for Safety, Bio-surety, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and Department of Army Inspector General inspections at a minimum of four (4) times per year Use laboratory experience and expertise to provide training, perform suite supervisor duties, and participate in laboratory containment working group(s) as needed to help ensure the labs, lab personnel, and procedures performed in the laboratory meet the applicable standards and regulations Seek funding from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and other funding agencies in collaboration with the Government and USAMRIID to further the research portfolio of the Division and USAMRIID Submit a minimum of three (3) proposals for prospective funding opportunities per year to the institute's portfolio management committee or equivalent for consideration Assist in coordinating and establishing extramural collaborations and contracts to augment the respective research program; amount of funding per year will vary depending on current mission requirements and USAMRIID's available funding Coordinate and collaborate with scientists within the Division and the Institute on in vivo, in vitro, and ex vivo studies to evaluate medical countermeasures against infectious diseases. In vivo studies with non-human primates is approximately 10-15 moderate studies per year, rodent studies range from 25-40 studies per year, and in vitro could be multiple studies in support of each in vivo study.

Ex vivo studies are averaging at less than five studies per year using innovative technology Prepare technical reports as required by the institute or the funding agency and at least one manuscript for publication each year and present work at Scientific Meetings each year, if required, which may require CONCUS and OCONUS travel Conduct scientific reviews on peer proposals in preparation for submission to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Develop or conduct annual reviews on standard operating procedures (SOPs) on file for the Virology Division Provide the technical point of contact (TPOC) a PI Technical Report no later than (NLT) the last working day of each monthRequirements: Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid U.S. passport Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986Requirements: Must be a U.S
