POSITION SUMMARY:

The Property Manager at Camp Westwood YMCA is responsible for the overall physical appearance, safety, and operational integrity of the camp’s grounds and facilities. This role ensures a high-quality environment for youth and families through diligent upkeep, seasonal transitions, and project management. As a key member of the leadership team, the Property Manager supports the Y’s mission of strengthening community by maintaining a facility that is safe, welcoming, and ready for transformative outdoor experiences. As part of the YMCA of Pawtucket the Property Manager assists the association and it's branches when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Daily Maintenance & Upkeep: Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of buildings. Ensure all public spaces meet YMCA standards for cleanliness.
  • Grounds Management: Execute routine landscaping including mowing athletics fields and brush removal. Provide timely snow plowing and ice management during winter months.
  • Seasonal Operations: Manage the critical "opening" and "closing" of the facility, specifically the seasonal water systems and winterization of buildings. During winter the Property Manager will work at either the MacColl YMCA or the Family YMCA. 
  • Facility Preservation: Maintain and repair buildings, cabins, and program structures (e.g., high ropes, docks, sheds) to ensure longevity and safety.
  • Project Leadership: Plan and execute small-scale construction or improvement projects as needed to enhance the camp experience.
  • Collaboration: Participate in weekly staff team meetings to coordinate with program departments and monthly Association Property Team meetings to align with regional standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and structures are in compliance with local health codes, ACA standards, and YMCA safety protocols.
  • Emergency Response: Act as the primary point of contact for facility-related emergencies or urgent repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification in facilities management or trades preferred.
  • Proven experience in property maintenance, landscaping, or construction, preferably in a camp or park setting. 
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, including tractors, commercial mowers, and snowplows.
  • Moderate or higher skillset in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire).
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain a clear BCI
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, extreme heat/cold).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and walking several miles of camp terrain daily.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
