Job description

The Visual Merchandiser serves as a vital role in our Company responsible for upholding the Shane Co. brand and product presentation standards. The Visual Merchandiser is the eyes, ears, and voice of our customer within their store and with the home office as well. They are experts in understanding our customer segments and how product and shopping preferences in their store vary by customer type. The Visual Merchandiser is keenly aware of what key competitors are doing in their specific market and how Shane Co. can differentiate and maximize profitability through visual impact and shaping our distinct product offering.

As a leader in the jewelry industry for four generations and as the largest family-owned jeweler in the U.S., Shane Co. serves our customers with an unparalleled standard of excellence. Our people get to share in our customers’ milestone moments such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and everything in between. We are looking for passionate, fun, vibrant individuals who want to be a part of our dynamic company culture in a retail environment.

Our goal for you is to give you an employment experience like no other so you wake up and want to come to work every day! And as a member of the store team, we will count on you to give an amazing experience to both our customers and our team members! If you love being part of a team as well as providing personal attention to every customer, this is the place for you!

As an integral member of the store team, the Visual Merchandiser drives sales by maximizing storytelling, guaranteeing brand standards are met, and ensuring all customers’ needs are satisfied.  The Visual Merchandiser also provides key input to staff on the buying team and stays in touch with customer needs by acting as part of the sales team. Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Owning product storytelling in the store, executing product displays, and ensuring brand standards are met.
  • Working directly with the Visual Merchant Lead in the Home Office for direction on campaign planograms and presentation standards, as well as communicating what your customers are asking for in your market.
  • Overseeing case standards daily and partnering with the sales team to ensure the proper presentation of merchandise.
  • Acting as a key part of the sales team to drive sales and stay connected with the customers in your market.
  • Providing sales presentations based on the features and benefits of our products, closing sales, and clienteling with existing customers.
  • Serving as the product expert for your store, including training sales staff on new products coming into the store.
  • Monitoring and assessing quality control issues that do not meet Shane Co. standards and communicating any issues to the Merchandising Team.
  • Participating in weekly and monthly meetings with the Store Manager to communicate successes and areas of potential improvement, as well as attending all Visual Merchandiser calls with the Home Office team.

No jewelry experience? No problem! We will provide you with the training you need to be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of our merchandise, represent our brand, and create an exceptional store experience for each and every customer. In addition, we care about your personal experience as an employee and providing you with career development opportunities.

  • Excellent understanding of Visual Merchandising; 2+ years visual merchandising or design experience preferred.
  • We are available to our customers when they need us so evening and weekend availability is a must. (Though unlike most retailers, we are closed on major holidays!)
  • Prior sales or customer-facing experience is required, as the Visual Merchandiser stays directly in touch with customer needs and desires through working on the sales floor also. Prior experience with jewelry sales is neither relevant nor required… we will teach you!
  • Strong visual eye and knowledge of retail trendsetters.
  • Ability to work with displays and follow plan-o-grams.
  • Ability to note trends in opportunity/ customer demand and communicate directly to home office team members.
  • Great ability to provide and receive feedback from peers, supervisors, and customers and adapt behavior with coaching.
  • Organizational excellence and ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a high level of visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • Excellence in written and spoken English is required; you will communicate with our customers and home office team members in writing as well as face to face. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Shane Co. accepts applications for this position on an ongoing basis. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the position will remain open until filled based on business needs.

Creative, adaptable, and detail-oriented individuals will see the most success in this role. Strong communication, confidence, initiative, and affinity for trends are imperative for this role, as is the ability to inspire and coach teammates.  Successful candidates in this role are perceptive, resourceful, and quick to connect with others. Being respectful, enthusiastic, and genuinely interested in the needs of our customers are important qualities for Visual Merchandisers to possess, along with being able to lead by example, delegate, and achieve results.

Shane Co. is a family-owned business and everyone who works in our organization is part of the family. This family point of view is exactly why we want to take care of you AND your family.
