OurVisual Field Techniciansparticipatein delivering patient care effectively andreceiveandpreparepatients for visual field testing.Cole Eye Institute is among the world's most advanced eyecenter.Our retina team has some of the best clinical outcomes in thefield andis passionate about leading the way in research and innovation for retinal diseases.


A caregiver in this position works7:30am to 4:00pm.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Check visual acuity and read current glasses prescription if applicable, record data in patient record, enter patient information into the automated visual field machine,performproper visual field test asindicatedby ordering physician.
  • Receive andpreparepatients for exams or treatment to be performed by administering dilation drops after visual field testing is completed (ifindicatedbyorderingphysician).
  • Perform various clerical functions, including ensuring that the ordering physician has signed theappropriate testingorder prior to performing the test and that the charge is captured correctly after the test is completed.
  • Maintain the physical environment of exam and procedure rooms by cleaning and stocking daily,assistingandmaintainingappropriate supplyof medications asneededand conducting basic maintenance.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year in a medical environment with direct patient care contact

  • Prior experience in customer service may be considered as well


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Formal education or training in optometry and/or ophthalmology

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment utilized to perform testing procedures.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, good eye-hand coordination to perform various tests.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
