Entrepreneurship Academy Coordinator
Department: Indian River High School

GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs difficult professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students, teachers, and parents; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Limited supervision may be exercised over assigned paraprofessionals.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards. The worker must possess the physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Communicate the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Academy's vision, mission, and goals to students, families, staff, business partners, and community stakeholders.
- Oversee and maintain the day-to-day operations of the academy.
- Market the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Academy program to prospective students, parents, community organizations, and business partners.
- Promote the academy's purpose, student achievements, and program accomplishments to colleges, universities, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and the broader community.
- Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the academy curriculum through curriculum workshops and collaboration with teachers and industry professionals.
- Facilitate the selection, adoption, and implementation of instructional resources and materials aligned with academy pathways.
- Assume responsibility for ordering, organizing, and distributing academy instructional materials, supplies, and technology resources.
- Oversee the implementation of staff development for academy teachers.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and professional learning opportunities for staff attending conferences, competitions, and related events.
- Provide input in the recruitment, screening, hiring, and support of academy personnel.
- Support academy teachers with instructional challenges and serve as a resource for curriculum development and innovative instructional practices.
- Communicate pertinent information to academy staff through regular meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and written correspondence.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback and consultation to support instructional excellence and student engagement.
- Oversee the application, interview, and selection process for academy students.
- Assist in the development of the academy master schedule in collaboration with the school administration.
- Coordinate student scheduling and collaborate with transportation as needed.
- Assist in the development of academy handbooks, promotional materials, presentations, brochures, and informational resources.
- Provide academic and career guidance for academy students as needed.
- Coordinate student internships, mentorships, job-shadowing experiences, pitch competitions, business partnerships, and entrepreneurial learning opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, entrepreneurs, higher education institutions, workforce organizations, and community partners.
- Create and facilitate an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Academy advisory council to ensure curriculum relevance and strategic guidance for students and teachers.
- Facilitate articulation agreements, dual enrollment, credentialing opportunities, and industry certifications for academy students when applicable.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents and families through newsletters, meetings, showcases, and academy events while encouraging family engagement and support.
- Attend relevant school, district, community, and professional meetings and events.
- Remain informed on educational innovations, workforce trends, emerging technologies, entrepreneurship practices, and industry needs through professional learning, research, conferences, and collaboration with similar academies and organizations.
- Recommend needs for inclusion in the annual academy budget and assist in monitoring academy expenditures and resource allocation.
- Maintain inventory records for academy equipment, supplies, and technology while supporting effective use of resources by staff and students.
- Coordinate the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to academy performance, student outcomes, industry partnerships, and program effectiveness.
- Research and pursue grant opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships to support innovation initiatives and expand student opportunities.
- Perform related duties, including responsibilities outside of the regular contract period, as assigned by the principal, director of secondary curriculum and instruction, and/or division leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate license(s), certificate(s), and/or endorsement(s) for the position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the School Board. An educational background to include a master's degree in school administration is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective secondary teaching; comprehensive knowledge of science education; thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures; ability to develop articulate written reports and effective oral presentations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, associates, students, parents and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
