Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Position Summary
The Director of Video and Scouting is responsible for managing and providing specialized technical expertise in video coordination and opponent scouting analysis of all video, scouting, and analytics operations for the Division I Men's Basketball program. Delivers advanced film analysis, data-driven insights, and visual tools to support coaching strategy, player development, recruiting efforts, and overall program success. Responsible for executing video operations, preparing scouting materials, and supporting coaching staff through film breakdown and analysis. Work independently within established program strategies and under the direction of coaching staff and basketball operations leadership. Work involves applying established methodologies to analyze video and produce scouting outputs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management Preferences
Experience with advanced analytics platforms (e.g., KenPom, ShotTracker, Pivot Analysis). 
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop). 
Familiarity with data visualization tools or basic programming/query languages (SQL, Python, or R).
Substantial basketball knowledge, including offensive/defensive systems and terminology. Ability to travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. Must be able to work nights, evenings and weekends as required. Travel required.
