Job Title: UI/UX Designer
Primary Location: Hybrid
Position Type: Contract
Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a UI/UX Designer. This is a contract role supporting a safety-critical, regulated product environment. This position exists to lead end-to-end UX design activities across complex digital products — balancing user-centered design principles with compliance requirements in highly regulated industries including medical devices, healthcare, and life sciences.
What You Bring to the Role

  • 3–5+ years of experience designing complex digital products with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end user-centered design processes from research through implementation

  • Experience in regulated industries — particularly medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or other safety-critical environments where usability, risk mitigation, and compliance are priorities

  • User research and human factors skills, including user interviews, usability testing, task analysis, and translating insights into intuitive interfaces for diverse user groups

  • Familiarity with FDA-regulated products, IEC 62366 usability engineering, human factors engineering, clinical workflows, or medical device software (SaMD)

  • Strong instructional design skills in addition to traditional UI/UX capabilities

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD

  • Solid understanding of information architecture and interaction design

  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including researchers, engineers, product managers, clinical experts, and regulatory stakeholders

  • Passion for improving patient, clinician, or healthcare professional experiences through thoughtful, evidence-based design

What You'll Do

  • Establish and implement the overall design strategy for digital products and websites

  • Define and optimize design processes and tools across the organization

  • Lead UX design activities from beginning to end across multiple digital products simultaneously

  • Understand and advocate for client and end-user needs throughout the product lifecycle

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business requirements, user scenarios, and use cases

  • Create UX and design assets including process flows, site maps, conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and mockups to communicate design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors

  • Present design solutions in ways that clearly communicate the value of design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Partner closely with product stakeholders to align on team needs and priorities

  • Provide design leadership and guidance to technical teams

  • Deliver design assets on time to support the product roadmap and project timelines
