Job description

The Devices & Services Experience Design (DxD) team leads user experience and industrial design innovation across Amazon's device portfolio, including Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Alexa.com, and related mobile apps. Our team works at the intersection of design, product and engineering, creating meaningful hardware and software experiences that enhance customer lives. We believe in storytelling and thinking holistically to craft the "why" behind everything we ship.
We're seeking a versatile Visual UX Designer who is passionate about building incredible product experiences for the Echo Family of Devices and customers across the Amazon devices and services portfolio.
Our team is composed of multi-disciplinary designers who blend boundaries across UX design, visual, motion, prototyping and industrial design. We innovate end to end on product concepts starting from ideation of scenarios, to refined visual and conversational prototypes, to working with partner teams to execute and integrate seamlessly with devices.
We are makers at heart- transforming early concepts into high-fidelity, interactive experiences that leverage device capabilities across vision systems, audio, touch, gesture and natural modes of interaction.
Storytelling is integrated into daily work of the design team - communicating strategy to diverse stakeholders, helping others see future possibilities today.
We create clarity from ambiguity, solving problems and when there are multiple considerations and tradeoffs to consider.
You will be participating in a deeply collaborative team, partnering with cross-functional groups across design disciplines, research, developers and product managers. Your hands-on approach builds trust and elevates the work of those around you.
Every day we push boundaries to turn ideas into tangible experiences that inspire partners, leaders and customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Bring product concepts to life through high fidelity visuals, motion, videos, physical and interaction prototyping
- Navigate all phases of the design cycle-from discovery and ideation through refinement and execution
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders including research, product management, developers and design leaders and communicate design strategy through compelling storytelling.
- Thrive in ambiguity, generating divergent concepts while identifying compelling ideas worth deeper exploration.
- Synthesize industry trends, customer needs, and competitive insights into meaningful experiences.
- Balance collaborative teamwork with autonomous execution in a small, highly skilled team.
About the team
The Echo Experience Design team is within Amazon's Devices Experience Design group (DxD). We are responsible for crafting the experiences for the Echo family of devices from products in the hands of customers today to future experiences of tomorrow - exploring how natural device interactions can enrich customers' daily lives and bring Alexa to life at home and on the go. We create innovative new experiences for customers through a cross-disciplinary approach to design, dissolving boundaries across disciplines and navigating all phases of the innovation design lifecycle from discovery through refinement.
