The Design Manager will lead a talented team creating engaging educational experiences used by students and educators nationwide. This role offers the opportunity to shape creative workflows, mentor designers, and help define how emerging technologies enhance educational content creation. 


The Design Manager is a mid-to-senior level leadership role responsible for overseeing a multi-disciplinary design unit made up of teams specializing in educational interactive design, print design, and general web maintenance. This position balances creative expertise with team leadership, AI familiarity, and knowledge to ensure high-quality design output, efficient workflows, and alignment with organizational goals. 


Primary duties include supervising and mentoring team members who produce professional design work, applying a master level knowledge of design-based technology, as well as being capable of teaching and introducing new technologies such as proprietary or AI-based software. The Design Manager also plays a key role in setting design standards, providing technical feedback, and fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and application of new technologies, such as AI-based software, thoughtfully within the design unit.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary design team focused on educational interactive, web, and print experiences. 
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings, team check-ins, provide detailed technical creative feedback during design reviews to maintain excellence, and design training sessions to support growth and accountability.
  • Explore emerging design technologies, including AI-assisted tools, and advancements in design-based software while supporting team growth through training, coaching, and adoption of new tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with art directors, project leads, project managers, stakeholders, and other company leaders to ensure design deliverables meet deadlines and project goals.
  • Support cross-team communication and foster a collaborative, solutions-driven design culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interactive Media, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional design experience, including leadership, mentorship, or supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and support designers working across interactive, print, and web projects. Spanish and WCAG familiarity being a plus.
  • Help evaluate, implement, and document AI-enhanced creative workflows while ensuring quality, privacy, and brand standards are maintained. 
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design experience and an understanding of educational or interactive design principles. 
  • Ability to translate creative workflows into trackable project systems and documentation.

The Design Manager is not a remote work position. All employees must live within commuting distance of Music Row in Nashville. We are currently requiring all team members to work at minimum 3 days a week in the office on the QuaverEd campus and allowing 2 days remote. This requirement is subject to change at the discretion of the team member's Supervisor and company policies.
