Job Description Essential Duties
BeVera Solutions is seeking a part-time talented Graphic Artist / Visual Communications Specialist to support the development of high-quality visual and digital communication products for a federal public health client. The ideal candidate will have strong graphic design, visual storytelling, digital communications, and layout skills, with experience creating materials for presentations, web, social media, and print.
This position will collaborate closely with communications professionals, scientists, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to develop polished communication products for print, digital, web, presentation, and social media platforms.
Essential Duties
  • Design and produce presentations, briefing decks, infographics, one-pagers, reports, social media graphics, and other digital communication products.
  • Apply strong layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and design principles to improve readability and comprehension.
  • Translate complex scientific, epidemiological, and public health information into clear, audience-appropriate visual products.
  • Develop and format web and digital content for usability, accessibility, and engagement.
  • Ensure products meet agency branding and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and communications staff to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Incorporate reviewer feedback and support communication product review and clearance processes.
  • Maintain version control and support timely completion of deliverables.
  • Adapt or develop communication products in support of emerging and rapid-response public health priorities.

NOTE: Position Contingent upon award of contract. This role is part of a pre-award candidate search for an upcoming federal government contract. Employment is contingent upon BeVera Solutions receiving the contract award, final Government approval, funding, and any applicable client or contract requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated professional experience in graphic design, visual communications, or multimedia communications.
  • Proficiency with graphic design and layout tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience creating content for multiple platforms, including print, web, presentations, and social media.
  • Experience translating technical or scientific information into clear communication products.
  • Visual/digital products are expected to meet design, usability, and readability requirements with minimal revisions, and Section 508/CDC branding compliance is expected at 100%.
  • Strong visual storytelling, editing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of plain-language and health-literacy principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Multimedia Design, or a similar design degree or related field
  • Experience supporting public health, healthcare, scientific, or technical communications.
  • Experience supporting CDC, HHS, another federal agency, or a federal contractor.
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility and accessible document/presentation design.
  • Experience applying federal or organizational branding standards.
  • Experience working with scientists, researchers, epidemiologists, or other technical subject matter experts.
  • Experience supporting rapid-turnaround or emergency-response communications.
