Job description

Job Title: Production Worker

Job Description

This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation by handling products through multiple stages of production. You will work with automated machinery and material-handling equipment, ensure accurate measurements and tagging, and help maintain safe, organized workflows in a fast-paced plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery safely and efficiently with full training provided.
  • Use an overhead crane to lift and move materials through the production line.
  • Organize, load, and secure products with appropriate packing materials to ensure safe handling and transport.
  • Measure all product accurately using tape measures and other tools to verify dimensions and confirm correct product specifications.
  • Read and interpret tags and labels to ensure proper selection and routing through the production process.
  • Perform visual inspection of product for defects, damage, or quality issues and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with general labor tasks, including material handling, inventory-related duties, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, safe lifting techniques, and adherence to plant safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete heavy lifting tasks (50 lbs and above) safely, using team lifts when necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in general labor or production environments, preferably in manufacturing settings.
  • Ability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting 50 lbs or more, often as part of a team lift.
  • Comfort with operating or learning to operate production machinery and equipment.
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools and measurement tools, including tape measures, to ensure accurate dimensions.
  • Attention to detail for reading tags, verifying product specifications, and performing thorough inspections.
  • Ability to work safely in a large manufacturing plant environment, following established procedures and using required PPE.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned day or night shifts Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Forklift certification (SDCB) is a nice-to-have and considered an asset.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks is an asset.
  • Experience with Combi lift equipment is an asset.
  • Prior experience in general production, machine operation, inventory, or inspection roles is beneficial.

Work Environment

You work in a large manufacturing plant located in the southeast, with distinct areas for different stages of production, including a busy shipping area where this role spends much of the time. The facility operates multiple weekday shifts, with day shifts typically running 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and night shifts from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with heavy materials, moving equipment, and production machinery in use throughout the plant. You use tools such as tape measures, hand tools, and material-handling equipment including overhead cranes with suction cups, and may interact with forklifts, pallet jacks, and Combi lifts where applicable. Steel-toe footwear is required, and additional personal protective equipment is provided to support safe work practices in the manufacturing setting.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
