This role performs the functions of a non-certified care attendant with medication administration. The purpose of this position is to provide service and routine assistance to residents according to standard procedures and established State and Federal regulations. This position assists in the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents, and administers medication in accordance with a physician's written orders.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assists residents with daily activities. This includes but is not limited to assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming.
  • Reminds residents of scheduled activities, social events, meals, need to get dressed, etc., when necessary.
  • Assists with medication supervision and/or administration in accordance with their training/certification/licensure based on state regulations.
  • Assists with laundry.
  • Assists dietary staff with serving meals in the dining room, ensuring residents' attendance in the dining room, and observes residents while eating. Arranges for and delivers meal trays for room service as needed, assists with returning trays to the kitchen when meal is over. Serves supplemental nourishment and snacks as needed.
  • Observes on an ongoing basis residents' condition including mental state and general wellbeing, changes in residents' physical conditions, and reports to the assisted living director when appropriate.
  • Responds to residents' call signals, makes rounds and checks on safety and security of residents. Use of independent judgement to provide assistance to residents or summon assistance from other personnel.
  • Provides general support, comfort, and socialization opportunities to residents; encourages independence and attendance at activities and social events.
  • Assists the activities staff as needed with activities and social events on a daily basis; follows instructions for evening and weekend programming.
  • Assists residents to and from meals and activities, including wheelchair transport.
  • Assists in the admission, orientation, discharge, and transfer of residents.
  • Be cross trained to work in all levels of care so assistance can be given to residents in Assisted Living, or Assisted Living Memory Care levels of living.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
  • Required Degree: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: N/A
  • Certificate(s): Medication Assistant training based on state regulations.
  • Experience: Entry Level
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of prioritizing tasks and managing schedules effectively.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Ability to build trust with clients and their families to ensure a positive caregiving relationship.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
  • Clarity of Vision:
    • For near visual acuity Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
    • For far visual acuity, Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
    • For peripheral vision, observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.

Compensation Pay Range:

$20.00 - $23.00 per hour

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
