Job description

The USF College of Nursing is seeking a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to contribute primarily to the College's research and scholarly mission. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and research teams to support the development, implementation, and dissemination of research initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities of the College of Nursing.

The primary responsibilities of this position will focus on research and scholarship, including participation in ongoing research projects, development of manuscripts and presentations, contribution to grant-related activities, data analysis and dissemination of findings, and collaboration with faculty and interdisciplinary research teams. The faculty member may also participate in limited teaching, mentoring, and service activities consistent with the needs of the College and the expectations of the Visiting Assistant Professor rank.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Evidence of scholarly productivity, such as peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other scholarly work. 

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of interdisciplinary research teams. 

Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Nursing or a related health or research discipline. 

Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications. 

Experience with grant development, submission, or externally funded research. 

Experience with quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, or other research methodologies relevant to the position. 

Experience with research data collection, management, and/or analysis. 

Experience mentoring students or trainees in research and scholarly activities. 

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied professional and academic backgrounds.

Research and Scholarship: 

The primary responsibility of this position is to actively participate in research and scholarly activities within the College of Nursing. Responsibilities may include contributing to the design and implementation of research studies; supporting data collection, management, and analysis; preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals; presenting research findings at professional and scientific conferences; and participating in the development and submission of grant proposals. The faculty member will collaborate with College of Nursing faculty and interdisciplinary research teams to advance research initiatives and contribute to the College's scholarly productivity.

Teaching and Mentorship:

The candidate may participate in teaching activities based on the needs of the College. Responsibilities may include guest lectures, seminars, research-focused instruction, or other educational activities. The faculty member may also mentor students and trainees in research and scholarly activities.

Service: 

The candidate may participate in appropriate College and University committees and engage in professional, community, or scholarly service activities consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the College of Nursing and expectations for the rank.

Other Duties: 

The candidate is expected to actively contribute to the intellectual and collaborative research environment of the College of Nursing and perform other duties consistent with the Visiting Assistant Professor appointment.
