Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Vision Engineer to join our dynamic team in the rapidly growing field of electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge computer vision solutions to enhance the efficiency, quality, and safety of our electric vehicle battery production processes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain computer vision algorithms for quality control, defect detection, and process optimization in electric vehicle battery manufacturing
  • Understand and apply algorithms for inspecting critical battery components, including cells, modules, and packs.
  • Work with manufacturing and automation teams to integrate vision solutions into production lines, ensuring compatibility with existing control systems and industry standards
  • Oversee vision systems for defect identification and classification throughout the manufacturing process, enabling real-time monitoring to enhance product quality
  • Analyze data from vision systems to provide insights into manufacturing performance, generating reports and recommendations for process optimization
  • Develop testing procedures to validate the accuracy of vision systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements while collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Basic:
  • Minimum Age: 18 years old
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology discipline, Computer Science or demonstrated experience in vision systems equipment
  • Experience in developing and implementing computer vision solutions for manufacturing applications, preferably in the electric vehicle battery industry
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Basic understanding of industrial vision systems
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MFC, C++, or others
  • Strong knowledge of computer vision libraries and frameworks (e.g., OpenCV)
  • Familiarity with image processing techniques and machine learning for vision applications
  • Functional understanding of vision systems (such as Keyence or Cognex) and/or X-ray system for inspection
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Complete proficiency in the Microsoft office tool suite

Preferred:
  • Advanced degree in an engineering/technology discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive or technology
  • Exposure to production control, supply chain, material handling systems, and procedures
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving ownership and proficiency
  • Cross-functional and/or team leadership experience
  • Experience in spare parts management and control
  • Proficient in application of statistical knowledge and tools such as Spotfire, Minitab or JMP
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methods

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
