BANK LOAN OFFICER (COMMERCIAL) POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for generating, approving, and maintaining quality commercial and ag loans for the bank's portfolio.

BANK LOAN OFFICER (COMMERCIAL) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Responsible for sourcing new client relationships and expanding current client products and services by proactively developing pipeline activity for profitable new revenue growth.  Primary products are loans, deposits, treasury management services, and fees associated with these and other products. 
  2. Responsible for soliciting, establishing, and maintaining new agricultural and commercial/business banking relationships within an identified portfolio or market area.
  3. Provide a high level of customer service by assuring that the products meet the client's expectations. Work with clients through difficult/complicated issues that may arise and will function as a liaison between the client and bank operations area to make certain all client needs are met. 
  4. Analyze all credit applications utilizing sound underwriting credit analytics. 
  5. Make recommendations for new loan products and services.
  6. Handle collections on delinquent loans; monitor the quality of existing loans
  7. Adhere to and remain current with bank policy, procedures, lending laws, and regulations. 
  8. Maintain a high level of customer confidence, assume a leadership role within the bank and community by participating in projects and activities.
  9. Manage the credit application process to approve, deny, or recommend credit action for loan applications. within an acceptable customer service and regulatory timeframe.
  10. Maintain loan quality by striving for low incidence of incomplete documentation or regulatory violation. 
  11. Will maintain knowledge of products and services offered by competitors and other vendors.

Requirements

BANK LOAN OFFICER (COMMERCIAL) ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in a business-related discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in the banking or lending environment 
  • Minimum of 2 years of credit experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales and negotiation experience

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in typing with speed and accuracy; basic keyboarding skills are required
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to apply commonly understood knowledge to carry out instructions and instruct others, understand procedures, and write reports and correspondence
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to represent the bank in a professional manner when dealing with customers and potential customers
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to function well in a demanding environment
  • Travel to/from and work in multiple locations
