Job description

Tygart is currently seeking a Senior Application Developer to support the design and development of an automated workflow system to manage multi-source, image-based intelligence for a Department of Justice (DoJ) organization. The candidate will be part of a team, collaborating closely with the government staff, to create an efficient process capable of integrating applications on a common platform and enhancing collaboration with external partners.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience developing solutions on Red Hat and Windows platforms, Oracle and MS SQL databases, Java, as well as familiarity with agile-like development methodologies.This position requires that the candidate have a current Top Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities include but limited to:
  • Translate business and technical requirements into extensible, scalable, and maintainable services Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to existing software
  • Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools
  • Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments related to software analysis Researches, tests, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements
  • Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications
  • Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements
  • Participates in development of software user manuals

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Eight (8) years of system development experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing solutions with Red Hat Linux utilizing Red Hat Server/Workstation virtualization technology and Microsoft Windows environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience supporting Java and Oracle-based implementations
  • Demonstrated skill in performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, and automation
  • Ability to interface with different databases including Oracle and MS SQL
  • Knowledge designing, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, and software reliability analysis
  • Experience using agile or agile-like development methodologies is highly desired
  • Experience leading development teams
  • Full lifecycle application development including managing, authorizing and editing of front end graphical user interfaces uses web based techniques and standards
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational capabilities
