Overview

VIRTUALIZATION/STORAGE ENGINEER (RDTE)

Bowhead is seeking a Virtualization/Storage Engineer to join our growing team in Dahlgren, VA. The Virtualization/Storage Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management (design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization) of our core VMware, Enterprise Storage (NetApp/Vast), and Rubrik Backup environments. This position provides Operation & Maintenance (O&M) support to NSWC Dahlgren Division for corporate solutions on the Research Development Testing and Evaluation (RDT&E) network.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions, focusing on VMware vSphere and NetApp/Vast storage systems.

  • Manage, optimize and maintain the Rubrik enterprise backup and disaster recovery solution.

  • Support Department wide IT transition initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with Corporate Services.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) and system design specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with security requirements as defined by the Assessment & Authorization (A&A) package.

  • Collaborate with the Help Desk and various Department Points of Contact to swiftly resolve complex customer infrastructure issues.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Must have three to five (3-5) years or more of relevant experience. 
  • Must have demonstrated ability to produce system specifications, design requirements, test evaluation planning documents, and technical publications and reports.

  • Must have an understanding of SAN fundamentals to include but not limited to virtual machine and LUN provisioning, snapshots, and zoning.

  • Proven strong analytical and problem solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

  • DOD 8570 IAT level II certification is mandatory(i.e., CompTIA Security+ce).

  • Experience with Splunk for logging and monitoring and scripting proficiency is a significant plus.

  • Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) networking and security accreditation requirements such as Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP).

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time 
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Top Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location.
