Job description

Special Education Teacher (K–12) – Alaska | 2026–2027 School Year

We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide high-quality instructional support to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working collaboratively with education teams in beautiful Alaska.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher will:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with special needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and staff
  • Participate in IEP planning, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Provide instructional support, tutoring, and consultation services
  • Contribute to a team-oriented approach to student success
Assignment Details
  • Start Date: August 17, 2026
  • Contract Length: 9 months
  • Schedule: 37.5 hours/week
  • Openings: 5 positions
  • Settings: Elementary and Secondary (placements determined via Zoom interview)
  • Interview Process: Virtual (Zoom)
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Valid Alaska Teaching Certification (required)
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Certifications preferred:
    • Standard Elementary Teaching
    • Standard Secondary Teaching
    • Standard Special Education Teaching
  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local compliance requirements
  • Current health documentation (TB test, physical, CPR if applicable)
  • Must be at least 18 years old
Compensation
  • Local Pay Rate: $58/hour
