Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Networking team is looking for software engineers who have a passion for diving deep while also being able to see the big picture

We are re-engineering our virtual networking control plane as part of Amazon's initiative to get EC2 performance to be as close as possible to that of bare metal. This role would involve being part of the team that owns building, scaling, and maintaining high performance software to streamline the management of millions of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configurations.
If you are a Software Engineer with a strong background coding in Linux, a passion for improving quality, solving challenging problems and curiosity about virtual networking, then this is your opportunity to own major deliverables and all aspects of the development cycle: scoping, design, implementation, and testing. You will be encouraged to exercise judgment in proactively determining and recommending the best features, designs, and support models based on business objectives, timelines, and resource constraints.
What makes this team a great place to work

Our services underpin the fabric of the EC2 cloud. You have the opportunity to make a large impact and drive the road map for the Amazon cloud.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud services and features that power AWS's core infrastructure
- Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Write high-quality, efficient code while adhering to AWS's architectural best practices
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across AWS services
- Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and performance
- Contribute to on-call rotations to support production systems
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
- Document system designs, APIs, and operational procedures
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
About the team
AWS Utility Computing (UC) delivers innovative cloud services from foundational offerings like S3 and EC2 to industry leading products that distinguish AWS in the industry. UC team members support development of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services, including specialized security solutions.
Our team actively supports new members through knowledge-sharing and mentorship

With diverse experience levels, we provide one-on-one mentoring and thorough code reviews. We prioritize your career growth by assigning projects that build your engineering expertise and prepare you for increasingly complex challenges.
