Job description

We are seeking a highly technical, data-driven Technical Sales Manager to join our team at M & M Production USA.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering, custom technology solutions, and live event sales. You will be responsible for translating client visions into safe, actionable technical designs, creating visually stunning show layouts, empowering our sales team through continuous technical training, and actively assisting in the cultivation of high-value leads. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of live entertainment production, structural rigging safety, and CAD software, alongside a proven track record of data evaluation and consultative selling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working Hours: Monday-Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm, with appropriate breaks. Occasional weeknights and weekends, as needed.

Technical Lead Cultivation & Business Development
  • Technical Lead Cultivation: Partner with the sales and marketing teams to identify, qualify, and nurture high-potential leads and enterprise accounts. Act as the technical heavyweight during early-stage discovery calls, building immediate credibility with prospective clients by demonstrating how our engineering capabilities can bring their complex creative visions to life.
  • Pitch Support & Client Consultation: Accompany account executives on high-stakes sales pitches and site walkthroughs. Translate complex rigging, AV, and software capabilities into compelling, value-driven presentations that help close new business.
Technical Design, Show Layouts & Seating Diagrams
  • CAD & Show Design: Create comprehensive 2D and 3D production layouts, scenic renderings, floor plans, and staging designs using industry-standard CAD software to visualize event concepts for clients as requested by the sales team.
  • Seating Diagram Creation: Draft precise, code-compliant seating layouts (theatrical, banquet, classroom, etc.) tailored to specific venue dimensions. Ensure all designs optimize sight lines and maximize capacity while strictly
    adhering to local fire marshal regulations, egress requirements, and ADA compliance guidelines.
  • Rigging Plot Design: Draft detailed rigging plots that accurately specify point loads, bridle configurations, trim heights, and equipment placement relative to venue structural constraints.
Engineering & Compliance Oversight
  • Rigging Approval Process Oversight: Manage the end-to-end rigging review and approval workflow. Coordinate directly with venue management, in-house rigging providers, and independent structural engineers to ensure all designs strictly adhere to local building codes, OSHA guidelines, and venue-specific safety weight limits.
  • Risk Mitigation: Evaluate engineering data and structural calculations to proactively identify and resolve potential rigging or safety conflicts beforeloading in.
Sales Enablement & Technical Training
  • Technical Specifications & Quoting: Partner with account executives to analyze client RFPs, define technical scopes, and generate highly accurate technical quotes, labor estimates, and equipment manifests.
  • Sales Team Technical Training: Act as the primary technical subject matter expert for the sales department. Develop and deliver training sessions to educate sales staff on evolving event technologies, rigging safety baselines, product capabilities, and effective technical qualification strategies.
  • Flex Rental Software Management: Oversee and manage the Flex Rental Software ecosystem for the sales team. Ensure equipment packages, pricing tiers, and virtual inventory structures are accurately maintained within Flex to streamline the quoting process and minimize equipment conflicts.
Data Evaluation & Procurement Capital
  • Data-Driven Purchasing Recommendations: Routinely analyze utilization metrics, rental sub-hire costs, equipment failure rates, and sales pipeline trends to make data-backed purchasing recommendations for new production software and hardware equipment. Present ROI (Return on Investment) business cases to leadership to justify capital expenditures.
Custom Event Solutions & Software Development
  • Application Creation & Maintenance: Code, build, and maintain custom internal software applications, scripts, or digital macros designed to create uniqueevent solutions. This includes developing automated quoting tools, data-bridging scripts between internal systems, or specialized client-facing interactive event solutions.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in live event production, AV integration, entertainment rigging, or structural layout.
  • Experience in technical sales, estimating, project management, or customer-facing production roles.
  • Proficiency with Vectorworks Spotlight, AutoCAD, or comparable CAD software.
  • Experience with Flex Rental Solutions or similar rental management software is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of entertainment rigging practices and applicable safety standards.
  • ETCP certification is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, workflow automation, or scripting/programming (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Power Automate, or similar technologies) is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
