About This Position

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Assist managing large mission critical network of servers hosting data for ATG software. Support ATG developers as they create and update the Offender Management Suite of programs. This would include deploying applications, running appropriate scripts, and configuring security to support new versions of the applications. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Track performance metrics of every network and server administered by ATG team; include reviewing processors, memory and hard disk usage, etc.
  • Track each server's successful completion of automated processes such as backup and data exchange interfaces.
  • Respond to notification (email/pages) from utilities monitoring availability and key metrics of servers.  Work toward being able to handle these issues independently.
  • Complete projects within time estimates with minimal returned work.
  • Keep supervisor informed on progress of projects
  • Seek information to update technical skills and business knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned by company management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will often be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk and hear. The employee will occasionally be required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds.  Employee will need to have close vision. Must be able to sight color variations when developing and testing our applications under different color schemes. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level is moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).  In addition, employee may work near moving mechanical parts


What You'll Need

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three years progressive work experience in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Experience using Windows Server technologies and concepts -- Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Storage Configuration. Experience using PowerShell scripting to perform repeatable tasks and automation.
  • Experience working with VMware technologies and concepts -- Virtual Processor, Virtual Storage Configuration, VMware Clustering, etc. 
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking principles and concepts.
  • Working knowledge of key server components (processor, memory and disk) metrics. 
  • Experience working with cloud technologies like AWS and Azure.
  • Experience working with Linux technologies like Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat.
  • Work independently to confirm successful completion of scripts that automate repeatable maintenance tasks such as backups, operations monitoring and application deployments.
  • Under guidance of management, perform script maintenance and complete required software updates to support new versions of ATG applications. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
