Company Summary

Indiana Connections Academy (INCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public charter school for students in grades K-12 throughout Indiana. INCA is authorized by Ball State University and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Indiana Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school was founded in 2010, as part of the Indiana Department of Education Virtual School Pilot Program, and became a charter school in the fall of 2011. INCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accrediting division of AdvancED.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

From a home-based office in Indiana, the Middle School Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the principal and other Middle School Assistant Principals.   The Assistant Principal helps manage all of the school operations, including both instructional and cultural tasks/duties.  Additionally, this individual works closely with key centralized service centers including School Support, Enrollment, Technical Support, Materials Management, Fulfillment, Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Facilities Management. It is also anticipated that this individual manages a range of special projects and duties, including all state-mandated protocols for Middle Schools in the state of Indiana.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

  • Support the school’s leadership team in implementing and monitoring the school improvement plan and goals;
  • Manage the implementation of the proven Connections Academy operational protocols;
  • Facilitate communication between middle school teachers, Learning Coaches, and students;
  • Motivate and supervise middle staff in pursuit of school goals;
  • Support student achievement and performance;
  • Monitor the school year cycle and help to hold teachers accountable to the school year cycle duties and tasks;
  • Coach and guide teachers in the virtual instruction process;
  • Manage reconciliation between Connections Academy’s data systems and state and local student information systems;
  • Support the enrollment and withdraw process for all middle school students;
  • Provide state testing support including travel, testing site oversight, student participation;
  • Support the Marketing Department with student outreach, marketing and public relations;
  • Stay current on the federal and state’s policies, procedures and legislation;
  • Oversee staff professional development;
  • Be available to handle all emergencies; and
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (preferred)
  • Master’s degree (preferred)
  • Valid Indiana Administrator’s license
  • Administrative or management experience within a school environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Possess superior perseverance, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products)
  • Experience in managing people (preferred)
  • Ability to travel as-needed
