Job Description

Title                             : Systems Administrator
Location                     : Madison, WI
Duration                     : 3+ Months

A direct WI client is looking for a Systems Administrator - 2.
This position will start 3/23/2015 and is anticipated to end 6/30/2015.
The client is seeking a Linux System Administrator-preferably with experience supporting Oracle Linux.
This individual will perform all administrative tasks for Linux servers including: installation, configuration, patching, securing, maintenance, and support for associated peripheral devices. Responsibilities include user account management and directory services integration; system backups and restores; network and storage configuration; virtual environment management leveraging VMware infrastructure and tools; performance optimization including load balancing and capacity management; system troubleshooting and diagnostics; and system performance and security monitoring.
Technical/Support Skills 
    Outstanding collaboration skills.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Excellent organization and presentation skills
    Respond, track, and escalate systems incidents on all Linux systems. Perform system patch deployments and maintenance; application upgrades and patches. Monitor and resolve alerts. Monitor system security. Follow change management and configuration management procedures and guidelines.
    Perform system administration duties such as installations; configurations; troubleshooting; kernel tuning; user access administration; file system tuning, hardware configuration, system performance tuning, disk management, custom package creation, shell scripting, and fine grain access control.
    Linux System administration/engineering.
    Working knowledge of Linux deployments and administration
    Administering, structuring, architecture, and supporting web-based systems that are highly available and capable of handling large throughput and concurrency.
    Shell scripting
    Understanding of Linux performance tuning and related utilities.
    Intermediate to Advanced SQL Queries and Scripting Knowledge.
    Understanding of network concepts (i.e. TCP/IP protocols, routing, subnets, services, DNS, etc.)
    Demonstrated experience working with technical and non-technical staff.
    Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
    Ability to communicate in plain English with executive level management.
    Experience and familiarity with ITIL process and practice is preferred
    Ability to multitask and work well in a team environment
    Strong analytical and problem ownership skills.
    Ability to communicate with customers - internal and external, to negotiate an acceptance criterion for problem resolution.
    Direct experience with delivering SaaS solutions and managing virtualized infrastructure
    Self-starter who is innovative and motivated to succeed
    4+ years industry experience
    BS in Computer Science or related work experience
