The Clinical Educator (RN) is responsible for the design, development, procurement, and implementation of educational programs and training materials tailored for medical foster parents and clinical staff. This role focuses on enhancing the skills of caregivers managing children with high-acuity, complex medical needs (e.g., trach, gastric tubes, total parenteral nutrition, complex pharmacology) to ensure safe, high-quality care in home environments. The educator evaluates competency and maintains educational compliance for the Florida Medical Foster Care program.

Your Specific Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Design, update, and implement specialized training curricula for medical foster parents, focusing on the care of children with complex medical, developmental, and behavioral needs.
  • Content Procurement: Procure or develop evidence-based training materials, videos, and simulation tools related to pediatric specialized care, including but not limited to, feeding tubes, respiratory care, and medication management.
  • Competency Validation: Conduct and document competency assessments (return demonstrations) of foster parents and clinical staff to ensure proficiency in specialized medical procedures.
  • Program Maintenance: Maintain an updated, organized training library and ensure all materials comply with Florida Department of Health (DOH) regulations, Medicaid requirements, and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) standards.
  • Instruction & Training: Facilitate in-person, virtual, and hands-on training sessions for caregivers, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
  • Needs Assessment: Identify educational gaps among foster parents and staff through review of quality assurance data, incident reports, and field feedback to tailor future training initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work with the Medical Director, nursing supervisors, and social workers to align training with medical foster care program goals.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Forida. Florida Statutes Reference:464, F.S.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.

Preferred:

  • Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Two years of pediatric experience.
  • 2 years of Teaching/Training Experience.
