Job Summary

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Specification Sales Manager. They will be accountable for lighting and control design development support. They will perform lighting analysis, control system designs, lighting material takeoffs, product selection and development of the bill of material (BOM) needed to satisfy the technical criteria for various project sizes and scope. The candidate will work directly with the Quotations and Order Management teams to ensure the development, quote, negotiation and deployment of projects. They will also work with Specification and Contractor Sales Representatives where needed be provide clarity and support throughout the sales cycle. The candidate will have experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Lighting Analysis software and Construction Documentation (i.e. specifications, schematics, etc.). Experience with Visual Lighting and Visual Controls will be an asset. The candidate may also be required to assist with Emergency and Linear Lighting takeoffs on projects to ensure an accurate BOM relative to the control solution requirements. Comprehensive knowledge of local electrical code, lighting products, control architecture and protocols is a requirement. This position will be an inside role working directly from the GTA office, with occasional outside visits for training, projects and customer support when necessary

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Lighting Application Design and Analysis - Generate complete and comprehensive lighting designs supporting our complete Line Card and backed with a Lighting Analysis completed with Visual Lighting software. Output must be customer-facing and ready to present to the client. Will work directly with sales to coordinate and support communication with various stakeholders where required to clarify project requirements and criteria.

Lighting Controls Designs - Generate complete and comprehensive lighting control designs embracing Acuity Brands Lighting Control unique technologies. Utilize Visual Controls software to document the solution for tender documentation, streamlined performance of site services (i.e. system startup and programming) and site-specific as-built record drawings. Output must be tailored for all stakeholders, including distributors and contractors.

Linear Lighting Material Takeoffs - Generate bespoke material takeoffs reflecting the comprehensive BOM of all material required to ship to install and create the solution as specified and reflected in the project documentation. This will require the candidate to liaise with the internal team as well as our engineering teams and factories to ensure technical accuracy. 

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

Associate's Degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent experience required. 

3-5 years of relevant experience. 

Engineering, Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist Preferred

Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD)software such as AutoCAD, Lighting Analysissoftware (AGI32, Visual Lighting), Microsoft Office and Bluebeam. Experience with Visual Lighting and Visual Controls is an asset.

Meeting planning for both virtual and in-person events, for both internal and externalstakeholders. This includes the conception, development, execution, and follow-up stages.

Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as a sense of curiosity and creativity. They must have the ability to be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines to prioritize key deliverables. Organization and time management skills to ensure task clarity to ensure internal handoff is successful at each step in the sales cycle and can be managed effectively by all team members - internal and external.
