Job description

Senior VDC / BIM Coordinator

Dallas | Austin | Houston, TX

Help Build Projects Before They're Built.

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, 100% employee-owned commercial general contractor that has built some of Texas' most significant commercial projects for decades. With more than 200 employees and an average employee tenure of seven years, the company has created a culture that combines the stability of an established contractor with the flexibility and collaboration of a close-knit team.

This is an opportunity to join a growing Operations Technology team where Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) is viewed as a strategic advantage-not simply a support function. Reporting directly to the VDC Manager, you'll own BIM coordination for multiple commercial construction projects, partnering with project managers, superintendents, preconstruction teams, design partners, and subcontractors to identify and solve construction challenges before they ever reach the field.

If you enjoy coordinating complex projects, leading collaboration across multiple trades, and using technology to improve construction outcomes, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Own

You'll independently manage 2-3 commercial construction projects simultaneously, remaining involved from preconstruction through the first year of construction.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead BIM coordination for commercial construction projects from project kickoff through field execution.
  • Receive and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP models from architects, engineers, and trade partners.
  • Perform clash detection using Navisworks and facilitate coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors.
  • Identify constructability issues early and help resolve conflicts before they impact the field.
  • Use Revit to model scope gaps, critical details, logistics plans, sequencing, and coordination needs when necessary.
  • Partner closely with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to support project execution.
  • Develop BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and BIM Implementation Plans (BIP) tailored to each project.
  • Support Preconstruction with BIM-based quantity takeoffs (QTO), coordination, logistics, and planning.
  • Present design and coordination challenges using both 3D models and traditional drawings so all project stakeholders can understand proposed solutions.
  • Help expand the company's VDC capabilities, including reality capture, laser scanning, field layout, robotics, and emerging construction technologies.
What Success Looks Like

The right person enjoys being the connector between design and construction.

You'll thrive if you enjoy:

  • Coordinating multiple trades and bringing teams together to solve problems.
  • Leading BIM coordination meetings with confidence.
  • Working closely with field teams to improve project execution.
  • Finding constructability issues before they become costly field problems.
  • Learning new construction technologies and helping improve how projects are delivered.
What We're Looking For
  • 3-5 years of VDC/BIM experience supporting commercial construction projects.
  • Experience working for a commercial General Contractor strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary trade models.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit and Navisworks.
  • Experience leading clash detection and BIM coordination meetings.
  • Experience managing multiple active projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to project teams, subcontractors, and owners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • BIM 360
  • Revizto
  • Tekla
  • AutoCAD
  • Civil 3D
  • SketchUp
  • MEP Coordination
  • Laser scanning
  • Reality capture
  • Drone capture
  • Field layout
  • Robotic Total Stations (RTS)
  • TopCon
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • 100% Employee-Owned Company (ESOP)
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance fully paid by the employer
  • Monthly employer contribution to your Health Savings Account
  • 401(k) plus ESOP retirement plans
  • Immediate vacation accrual and paid holidays
  • Opportunity to help shape the future of VDC within a growing commercial contractor
  • Family-oriented culture focused on developing and promoting employees
  • Average employee tenure of seven years
  • Work on some of Texas' most exciting commercial construction projects

If you're passionate about construction technology, enjoy collaborating across project teams, and want to help solve construction challenges before they happen, we'd love to hear from you.
