Registered Nurse (RN) – PRN

Senior Helpers Southern Maryland is seeking a dependable and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to support our growing home care team. This flexible opportunity is ideal for an RN looking for supplemental hours while making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors receiving care in their homes.

This role focuses on client assessments, care planning, caregiver oversight and training, and ongoing clinical support to help ensure safe, high-quality care.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct initial client assessments and ongoing reassessments in clients' homes
  • Develop, review, and update individualized plans of care
  • Evaluate clients' needs and identify changes that may require updates to services
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance related to client care
  • Support and train caregivers on appropriate care techniques and client-specific needs
  • Conduct or assist with caregiver skills training and competency assessments
  • Communicate with clients, families, caregivers, and the office team regarding care needs and concerns
  • Help address changes in condition, safety concerns, and other clinical issues
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency requirements
  • Support compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and home care regulations
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or an applicable compact state
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience preferred; qualified new graduates and retired RNs are encouraged to apply
  • Home care, senior care, long-term care, or community-based nursing experience is a plus
  • Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a home care environment
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the service area
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and sound clinical judgment

This position may require travel throughout Southern Prince George’s and Northern Charles Counties, including:

Accokeek, Brandywine, Cheltenham, Clinton, District Heights, Fort Washington, La Plata, Oxon Hill, Suitland, Temple Hills, Waldorf, White Plains, and surrounding communities.
