Responsibilities may include patient assessments, triage, education, and coordination of care. This role offers flexibility, allowing nurses to work on an as-needed basis without a fixed schedule. Virtual PRN RNs must have strong communication skills, clinical experience, and a reliable internet connection to deliver quality care remotely.

What does a typical shift look like for a Virtual PRN RN, and how much flexibility is offered?

As a Virtual PRN RN, your shifts often vary based on patient demand, and you may be scheduled to work during evenings, nights, or weekends to cover peak times or urgent needs. You will spend your time conducting remote patient assessments, triaging cases, providing education, and coordinating care—all through secure telehealth platforms. The PRN (per diem) structure means you have flexibility in selecting shifts that fit your availability, making it an ideal option for nurses seeking a non-traditional work schedule. Collaboration with physicians, case managers, and support staff is common, and effective communication with both patients and colleagues is key to delivering high-quality care.
