ROLE SUMMARY: An experienced Virtual Construction Superintendent - Plumbing with a strong plumbing background to lead the integration of plumbing code and field installation practices into BIM/VDC workflows. This role bridges the gap between construction field operations and virtual design, ensuring that virtual models accurately reflect real-world conditions, driving constructability, quality, and efficiency across all phases of plumbing installation. This role is ideal for a seasoned field installer or foreman looking to transition into a leadership role that directly influences modeling accuracy, constructability, and BIM execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Act as the field authority within the BIM/VDC team, ensuring models align with installation best practices. This includes coordination meetings and field walks.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, fabrication deliverables, and installation plans for compliance with specifications.
  • Oversee model QA/QC for plumbing code, identifying conflicts, clearance issues, and constructability concerns.
  • Collaborate with project teams to synchronize virtual construction deliverables with field schedules.
  • Interpret plumbing specifications and contract documents to guide accurate modeling and detailing.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to BIM/VDC modelers on installation sequencing and field realities.
  • Support prefabrication and modular piping strategies through accurate virtual planning. Help ensure deliverables meet fabrication and installation milestones by aligning virtual construction with field execution schedules.
  • Review submittals to verify that equipment and material meet the requirements of the project.
  • Make field visits to review shop drawings content with installation crews and obtain feedback on improvements that can be made.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 8+ years of experience in plumbing installation in a field or superintendent role, fabrication and layout experience a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with BIM/VDC teams or exposure to 3D modeling platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP).
  • Strong understanding of plumbing specifications, contract documents, and plumbing code.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and plumbing piping isometrics.
  • Exceptional communication and coordination skills to bridge field and virtual workflows.
  • Comfortable in construction site environments and office-based model review settings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to installation quality and accuracy.
  • Experience with ACC, Bluebeam, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Experience in plumbing coordination and preconstruction planning preferred.
  • Familiarity with prefabrication processes and modular plumbing piping systems preferred.
  • Certifications in sheet metal duct, pipefitting, plumbing, or relevant trades are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
