A CPMC surgery RN works in a variety of Perioperative nursing roles including Pre-op, Intra-op, and Post-op. The Perioperative Nurse uses a both a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Responsibilities include assisting surgeons and the surgical team to care for the patient before, during, and after surgery. Surgical specialties include General Surgery, Pain Procedures, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Obstetrics, ENT, Orthopedics, and Endoscopy.


Major Job Duties & Responsibilities

Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Assesses patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.

Develops an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.

Performs job duties in accordance with AORN Perioperative Job Descriptions and Competencies.

Evaluates the patients progress toward attaining outcomes.

Transfers care as appropriate.

Delegates tasks as appropriate according to Montana Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.

Documents nursing care accurately, completely and legibly.

Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.

Participates in quality review and performance improvement projects.

Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.

Uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.

Maintains required competencies: 1) Circulating all orthopedics, podiatry, eye procedures, general, OB/GYN, & dental procedures. 2) Scrubbing orthopedics, podiatry, eye procedures, general, OB/GYN, & dental procedures if requested. 3) Performs all job duties of pre-op & post-op patient care.

Pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Basic computer knowledge

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.

Ability to assess patients needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Ability to develop perioperative patient plan of care.

Knowledge of AORN and Montana Nurse Practice Act.

Possess problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.


Education Requirements

BLS, ACLS, PALS & NRP (must obtain within 3 months of hire).

CNOR Preferred.


Experience

Two years perioperative services experience preferred.

New grads welcome to apply.

Compensation

$33.74-$49.15 DOE, an additional $8.00 based on specialty.

Sign On & Retention Bonuses available for up to $20,000 over 3 year period.


Schedule

Work hours are based on the needs of the department and may change.

Call schedule includes rotating 24-hour call shifts: weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
