Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg (Adult)

Location: St. Johnsbury, VT
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift - 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly

Compensation:
  • Pay Rate: $48-$58/hr based on experience
Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care within a dynamic acute care environment. The ideal candidate will coordinate comprehensive care for adult patients and occasional pediatric patients while utilizing the nursing process to support medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, and swing bed patient populations. This role requires strong clinical judgment, compassion, and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and occasional pediatric patients in a Med/Surg setting
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status
  • Coordinate care for medical, surgical, observation, outpatient, and swing bed patients
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Lead, Nursing Supervisor, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ensure holistic patient care addressing physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care environment
Required Qualifications:Education:
  • ASN or BSN required
Licensure & Certifications:
  • Current Vermont RN License or active Multi-State RN License
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience required
  • Meditech experience preferred
  • Experience in Med/Surg nursing required
Additional Requirements:
  • Must work every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Flu vaccination required with no exceptions
  • Strong communication, critical-thinking, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced patient care environment
