Job description

Job Overview
The Nursing Station Technician on the 39 bed Oncology unit will help adult patients with oncologic malignancies. Our focus is adult gynecology, oncology, colorectal and plastic surgery patients. Our services include surgical care, chemotherapy and blood administration. We manage complex medication and infusion therapies, and care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries, procedures and interventions on the unit. We are a dynamic team!
This position works a .6 FTE (48 hours per 2 week pay period), at 8-hour shifts, on the day and evening shifts (day 7am-3:30pm and evening 3pm-11:30pm) with every other weekend rotation.
Are you ready to kickstart your next engaging career in healthcare? Look no further! This exciting opportunity is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.
In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:
  • Patient care tasks such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
  • Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests
  • Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
  • Ordering and stocking of supplies
  • Keywords: NST / NA / HUC

Required Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants needs to acquire the certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.

And one of the following:
  • Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.

Or
  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

Or
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

Or
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience
