Job description

The First Assist Surgical Technician works in collaboration with the surgeon and RN to achieve optimal patient outcomes.  The First Assist Surgical Technician must have acquired the necessary knowledge, judgment, and skills specific to the expanded role of First Assist Surgical Technician.  Must follow aseptic technique procedures and be able to provide equipment and supplies based on patient and surgeon needs.  During surgery, the First Assist Surgical Technician practices under the direction of the surgeon.

Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Experience:
Prior critical care, intensive care experience is preferred. Two (2) years performing as a First Assist Surgical Technician is preferred.
 

Licenses/Certificates:
Current Mississippi RN licensure is required.
BLS & ACLS certification is required.  PALS certification is preferred.
