Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and floating across multiple campus locations within a Level II trauma system.

Details
  • Medical Surgical unit within a multi-campus hospital system
  • Patient population includes COPD, stroke, total joint, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal cases
  • 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • Weekend shifts required to average one per week, which may be every other weekend or spread across weekends
  • No scheduled on-call, but may be placed on standby
  • Float required to all North Campus locations including Redmond, Prineville, and Madras
  • May float within scope to any med/surg unit in the system, as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department, or to the ED to care for boarding med/surg patients
  • Facility system includes a Level II trauma center, two critical access hospitals, and a Level IV trauma center
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
  • BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
  • Trauma Level II hospital experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, though candidates with 3-5 years of experience may be considered as first-time travelers
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
  • Experience managing renal, neurological, and GI conditions including CBI, CVA, bowel obstruction, and colostomy/ileostomy care
  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • No employment gaps greater than 30 days within required work history
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care for a diverse Med/Surg population including post-surgical, oncology, and trauma patients
  • Support may be needed in Ortho/trauma, cardiovascular, and plastics-related surgical care
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Proof of address required to confirm radius eligibility
  • RTO restricted to 7 days for this assignment
  • First-time travelers may be considered only with 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Two professional references required, including at least one from a supervisor within the past year
  • Facility-required training modules must be completed during orientation and renewed annually
