Job description

Position Purpose: The System Director is the system leader accountable for providing strategic leadership for Sinai Health System’s patient safety program with responsibility for reducing preventable harm, strengthening the culture of safety, leading safety investigations, and implementing enterprise patient safety initiatives. This includes developing and leading strategies for implementation, evaluation, and sustainment that support the elimination of risk and harm to patients. This position works to eliminate preventable harm, attain unsurpassed clinical and patient-reported outcomes, and build hospital-wide participation through transparency, collaboration, and mutual learning. In addition, this position involves collaborating with hospital and medical staff leadership to enhance patient safety initiatives across all facets of the organization. The System Director oversees the formulation of strategies aimed at enhancing the reporting of patient safety-related events and ensures that hospital and medical staff leaders and caregivers receive comprehensive training and development in quality improvement and patient safety. Additionally, the System Director continuously evaluates performance improvement, safety, and outcomes to drive ongoing enhancements. This position will report directly to the Associate Chief Medical Officer for System and Quality & Patient Safety.

Other:

  • Evaluates program effectiveness and recommends improvements to optimize quality, regulatory compliance, and patient safety outcomes.
  • Recruits and develops staff, teaches/orients/trains and manages financial and human resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitors internal and external trends to identify priorities.
  • Oversees effective use of budget and other resources as delegated.
  • Maintains high levels of staff engagement and performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field required; Health-related field or MBA preferred/MPH/MHA preferred.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in quality, safety, and/or operations improvement; three years of management experience which includes as a director or manager in directing projects and teams.
