Job description

EnDepth Solutions is seeking an experienced Storage Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a mission-critical government program in Laurel, MD. This role will serve as the technical lead for enterprise storage, backup, virtualization, and supporting Linux infrastructure. The selected candidate will provide expert-level administration of NetApp storage systems, VMware environments, and backup platforms while ensuring security compliance, system performance, and operational availability across highly secure environments.
The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in enterprise storage architecture, data protection, Linux administration, and virtualization technologies, along with the ability to independently solve complex technical challenges and guide infrastructure modernization efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the lead administrator and technical SME for enterprise NetApp storage environments supporting multiple systems.
  • Provision and manage storage resources including LUNs, NFS exports, CIFS shares, and iSCSI mappings.
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain NetApp systems including FAS8600, AF200, and AF250 platforms.
  • Coordinate with VMware administrators to provision storage resources for VMware ESXi / vCenter datastores.
  • Manage snapshots, cloning, restores, replication, and storage migration efforts.
  • Administer and maintain Veritas NetBackup appliances, backup schedules, policies, and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot backup failures and ensure successful recovery operations.
  • Perform ONTAP upgrades, firmware updates, lifecycle maintenance, and patch management.
  • Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and proactively remediate issues.
  • Support Linux (RHEL) systems administration including storage mounts, interface management, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Apply security hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs, system security policies, and vulnerability remediation requirements.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and system recovery efforts.
  • Develop automation and scripting solutions using Bash or similar tools.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and complete projects with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications:
  • Expert experience administering NetApp storage systems in enterprise environments
  • Strong VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter experience
  • Experience managing Veritas NetBackup systems
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience (RHEL preferred)
  • Experience with storage migrations, snapshots, restores, and backup operations
  • Experience remediating vulnerabilities and maintaining secure environments
  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to operate independently and lead technical efforts
Desired/Preferred Experience:
  • Kubernetes (K8s) / containerized environments
  • AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms
  • GitLab or similar DevOps / source control tools
  • Infrastructure automation and orchestration experience
Security Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required
Salary Range:
  • $225,000 - $255,000 based on experience, certifications, and clearance level.
