Position Overview:

The Solutions Engineer – Cloud Operations is part of a team responsible for the deployment, management, monitoring, and support of Razor's private cloud infrastructure and managed services offerings. This role encompasses a broad range of cloud operations functions — from virtualization and server administration with a. primary responsibility around customer backup solutions.

The position involves working directly with customers to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot their environments hosted on Razor's private cloud platform. The Solutions Engineer plays a key role in onboarding new customers, performing infrastructure upgrades, proactive monitoring, and executing remediation efforts when issues arise. A strong emphasis is placed on backup and disaster recovery, including annual DR testing, recovery validation, and real-world recovery execution.

This role requires a well-rounded technical background spanning Windows Server administration, hypervisor platforms, basic networking, and scripting. Familiarity with backup and DR solutions — particularly Veeam, Zerto, and Druva — is central to the role, and experience with Linux environments is considered a valuable asset.

Key Responsibilities

Backup Solution Implementation & Configuration

·       Deploy and configure Razor Cloud backup and disaster recovery solutions powered by Veeam for on-premises, cloud-hosted, and Microsoft 365 environments.

·       Work with customers to design backup schedules, retention policies, and disaster recovery plans that align with business requirements.

·       Integrate backup solutions with cloud storage platforms and, when applicable, on-premises storage hardware.

Private Cloud Infrastructure & Virtualization

·      Support in the deployment, configuration, and management  virtual machines and workloads on Razor's private cloud infrastructure, leveraging the Nutanix hypervisor platform.

·      Perform routine administration of Windows Server environments, including provisioning, patching, and performance optimization. Linux administration experience is a plus.

·      Support the lifecycle management of hypervisor hosts and clusters, including upgrades, capacity planning, and health monitoring.

Monitoring & Maintenance

·       Monitor backup job performance, storage utilization, and system health through Razor’s management platforms.

·       Proactively identify and resolve backup failures, performance issues, or capacity constraints before they impact recovery objectives.

·       Apply updates, patches, and version upgrades to Veeam and related systems to maintain a secure and supported environment.

Recovery & Remediation Support

·       Respond to customer incidents requiring data restoration, disaster recovery failover, or environment rebuilds.

·       Coordinate and execute recovery activities to meet agreed recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).

·       Document recovery efforts and provide post-incident reports with recommendations for improved resilience.

Testing & Validation

·       Lead or participate in annual disaster recovery and failover testing for customers, documenting results and identifying improvement opportunities.

·       Validate recovery processes to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry best practices.

Customer Engagement & Support

·       Serve as a tier-3 escalation resource for backup-related customer issues.

·       Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to customer teams on backup and recovery best practices.

·       Collaborate with sales and solution architects to assist with technical scoping and proposal development for backup services.

Documentation & Process Development

·       Maintain accurate documentation for customer configurations, backup job settings, recovery procedures, and change logs.

·       Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and best practice guides for Razor Cloud backup and recovery services.

Additional Engineering Support

·       Assist in other engineering projects and tasks as assigned, which may include system administration projects, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, or supporting the onboarding of new customers into Razor’s managed services environment.

Qualifications

·       5+ years of experience in backup, disaster recovery, and cloud-based storage solutions.

·       Strong technical expertise with Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, and related products.

·       Familiarity with cloud storage platforms such as Azure Blob Storage, AWS S3, or Wasabi.

·       Understanding of recovery objectives (RPO/RTO) and disaster recovery planning principles.

·       Experience performing full and partial restores for physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted workloads.

·       Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration; Linux experience is a plus.

·       Familiarity with one or more hypervisor platforms: VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Proxmox.

·       Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure during recovery events.

·       Excellent communication skills for working directly with customers and internal teams.

·       Relevant certifications such as Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) are highly desirable.
