HONOR GUIDEย 

Role Summaryย 

Honor Guides play a key role in the educational mission of the National Medal of Honor Museum by delivering engaging programming and tours to the public.ย Honorย Guidesย will serve as ambassadorsย for theย Museum, providing engaging andย educational experiences for visitors of all agesย andย delivering fact-basedย toursย and field trips. This role supports both the daily visitor experience andย special eventsย as needed.ย ย 

In addition, this role will work with the Research,ย Exhibitsย & Collections (โ€œRECโ€)ย and Education departments toย study the Museumโ€™s collection, exhibits,ย andย historicalย content to align and developย tours andย programs with visitor interestsย and public inquiry.ย ย 

Essential Functionsย 

  • Leadย tours of theย Museumโ€™s exhibits, highlighting key themes, historical contexts, and artifacts.ย 

  • Support daily tourย operationย byย assistingย with tourย logistics, setup, and inventory.ย ย 

  • Adapt tourย deliveryย to suit the interests and needs of diverse audiences, including school groups, families, and adult visitors.ย 

  • Monitor theย Museumย guest experience,ย provideย wayfinding guidance, and address visitor inquiriesย about exhibits, programs, and Museum policies.ย 

  • Facilitateย theย Dustoffย virtual reality experience.ย 

  • Deliver field trips and family programmingย for schools, youth organizations, and families visiting the Museum.ย 

  • Ensure that all content delivered to Museum visitors isย accurate.ย ย 

  • Collaborate with REC and Educations departments to assess and evaluateย tours and programming.ย ย 

  • Represent the museum positively and professionally.ย 

  • All other duties as assigned.ย 

Preferred Experience and Qualificationsย 

  • Associate or bachelorโ€™s degree in education, museum studies, history, or relatedย field.ย 

  • Experience working or volunteering in a museum environment as a docent, gallery attendant, or tour guide.ย 

  • Experience teachingย or working with multigenerational audiences.ย ย 

  • Basic familiarity withย Medalย of Honor history.ย 

  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) a plus.ย

  • Ability to speak, read, and understand verbal instructions in Englishย 

  • ย Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.ย 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.ย 

  • Mustย successfully receive certification inย the National Medal of Honor Museum Tour and Field Tripย Training and Assessmentย in accordance withย the position training program timeline for each tour.ย ย ย
